APPROACHES TO THERAPY
Which
Approach to the Therapy is Best?
No
one approach is right in all circumstances. I have significant experience
with individual, couple and family therapy. Each offers different learning
experiences and address different concerns. Sometimes if the client
desires, and the situation warrants, I will suggest a combination of
modalities. Other times, we will work with one configuration of the
family in therapy and another mental health professional will participate
with another configuration. Generally the person seeking therapy and
the situation itself dictates whether individual, couple or family therapy
is the appropriate response to the problem.
Individual
Therapy
Individual
therapy provides an opportunity to deal with personal issues in a focused
way. In working with individuals, I help you to discover what is hindering
your development and how you can promote a deeper sense of connection
with yourself and with others which then fosters your own well-being
and the well-being of those closest to you. I have significant experience
in a wide variety of schools of therapeutic thought and employ a very
eclectic style based on the issues involved.
Couple
and Family Therapy.
In
working with couples and families, I provide a safe place to explore
yourself and your relationships. We will work with your unique strengths
and weaknesses to deepen intimacy and connection as well as foster individual
and family growth. I believe connection and intimacy are the foundation
of successful relationships and families. It is these intimate connections
which then allow and encourage individuation for each individual. I
help couples and families create this delicate balance between connection
and individuation that allows them to find creative solutions to the
specific problems that they face in their daily lives and interactions
with each other.
